Last Day at SVD

My bosses catered lunch today... the inevitable last day of my almost 6 year career at SVD. They ordered My Big Fat Greek Restaurant, it was pretty good. It was also kind of a pot-luck, so I think I'm going to have to go in on Monday and help them eat some of the leftovers. I also need to get back in there next week to pick up my last paycheck and I'm hoping to have my gift to the office wrapped up. So I will have get more pictures with my friends from work. There actually weren't many people around today, sooo.... I think that worked out in my favor, less tears. It was hard to think that I won't be seeing my mom everyday anymore.

Here's the food.

CPR/BLS

I completed my Basic Life Saving/CPR Certification yesterday!

I'm so excited! It was strange to think I took an online course, but I feel just as confident as I did when I learned in XRay school. The only thing that's really changed is the respiration to compression ratio. Not too big of a deal, just glad to have it. I'm actually surprised that more health facilities don't require it. It's a pretty good skill to have... For now I'm just praying that the only time, if ever, I have to use it will be at work.

Kind of a Big Break

I have a friend/former co-worker who actually moved to Hawaii around this time last year. She emailed me yesterday, kind of out of the blue, and asked if I had found a job yet. She said a CT position opened up at Tripler! It hasn't been posted yet but she told me to email my resume to a contact there that way when it's posted and I apply they can pick me right out of the list of applicants! That all depends if the see my resume and decide I'm qualified. HOORAY!!! I know the contact has received my email, she did respond and said she would be reviewing it and contacting me in the near future. Keep your fingers crossed for me everyone!

A Slight "Bum" in the Road

Just wanted to make a quick post about one of my job applications. I heard back from a facility that had listed a mammography position. Apparently they had looked into it and decided not to fill the position and just closed it. At least I heard back. There are several other applications I put in, so we'll see if I start hearing more. A lot of them had said I may not hear back for 4-6 weeks, so I'm still crossing my fingers.

Also, I'm pretty sure I will be receiving my Hawaii state license any day. I paid for my CPR/BLS certification, it's an online course that's accredited in all 50 states. Is that scary, learning CPR online? I thought it sounded weird, but since I already had a classroom CPR class once I figured this would be okay to sort of re-up. If this were my first I would've definitely felt better about sitting through a class.
